What Have You Done With the Grace Shown You?

Take a moment to read Matthew 27:15-26 and focus on the man Barabbas. That was his cross Jesus died on. Try to put yourself into the mind of Barabbas. He was to be executed before this day was done. Suddenly, he was a free man. I’d like to think something compelled him to stay and watch the execution of the two thieves he had been imprisoned with and the Man who took his cross. Having been so close to death, then given a reprieve, would certainly provide impetus to change his lifestyle, wouldn’t you think?
Barabbas means ‘son of the father;’ kind of like John or Jane Doe. You see, Barabbas is anybody and everybody. So…Barabbas, how have you responded to your new lease on life? Have you let Him have what He paid so dearly for?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us, “You are not your own, you have been bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” He wants and deserves the empty vessel. Give it to him! And he will fill it with his life.
