 Austin Abbott

Youth Ministry, Teaching Pastor

Austin has been serving at River Valley for a little over a year and has been involved in Youth Ministry, Local Outreach, and teaching at our Redwood and Downtown Campuses. Austin is engaged to his fiancée Madie and looking forward to getting married in July. Austin enjoys reading, hanging out with kids, riding his dirt bike, and watching Lord of the Rings. Austin has a passion for teaching the Word of God and being used by God to help lead people into a deeper relationship with Christ. Contact Austin



Michael Bahn

Pastor of Worship, Life Groups, & Administration

 Michael has served at River Valley since 2002 with an unwavering passion for worship. He and his wife Jannelle have been married almost 20 years and have three children, Michael-Austin, Adriana, and Alesia. Outside of ministry at River Valley, Michael ministers as a singer, songwriter and recording artist leading worship abroad, as God calls him, to encourage the Body of Christ. Contact Michael. Allison Bolen

Director of Children’s Ministry

 Allison and her husband, Chet, have been attending River Valley since they moved to Oregon in 2007. They have been happily married since 2001 and have four children, Ella, Eden, Bret, and Boyd. Chet and Allison co-lead a Life Group and enjoy serving in children’s ministry. Allison has over 10 years of teaching experience, a master’s degree in education, and passion for sharing God’s Word with others. Contact Allison


 Kathi Brown

Director of Counseling Ministries &

Life Group Pastor

Kathi and her husband, Rick, have been married since 1974, have two grown children and five grandchildren. Rick and Kathi have been active members of RVC since 1977, and Kathi has been on staff since 1991. They developed marriage ministries and work with the current Team. Together, they are currently working to develop a ministry for those with debilitating physical diseases (like cancer) and their caregivers. Contact Kathi



Mark Goens

Lead Pastor, Teaching, Pastor of Life Groups

Mark has been the Lead Pastor at RVC since 1997. Prior to that, he was on staff here as Pastor of Student Ministries for over 7 years. His passions are teaching God’s Word, and Life Groups. Mark, and his wife of over 30 years, Dana, devote much of their time to our Life Group ministry… helping to train new shepherds and start new groups. Mark and Dana have four wonderful grown children: sons Tyler & Cody and daughters Nicole & Natalie. Contact Mark



Tyler Goens

Redwood Campus Pastor

Tyler grew up in this community. He received his undergraduate degree from Simpson University and his master’s degree from Liberty University. His primary emphasis at River Valley is the Redwood Campus, but he also helps support River Valley’s student and life group ministries. He also coaches soccer at North Valley High School. Roger Haberman

Murphy Campus Pastor

Roger has been working with students for almost three decades. He has a passion to see students grow in their faith, allowing God to work through them as they learn to impact the world for the glory of God. He has been married to Brenda since August 17, 1985, and they have three children, Ryan, Jake, and Brittany. Contact Roger



Diana Hecht

Director of Women’s Ministries

Diana leads a team who oversees the ministry of women through events such as Women’s Bible Studies, the annual Women’s Retreat, and more. Women are provided with opportunities to gather together and love one another, disciple each other, and grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Diana and her husband, Ken, have been married for over 34 years and have lived in Grants Pass for over 17 years. Contact Diana



Doug Higuera

Pastor, Downtown Campus & Marriage Counseling

Doug counts it an honor to be trusted to speak into lives in his pastoral care position as a counselor, mentor, and teacher. It fits his gifts, passion, and personality. Doug and his wife Laurie are very involved in the worship ministry and together lead a singles Life Group. Their ministry passion is to see God’s people grow in the grace that comes from knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord.  Contact Doug



Dan Horst

Pastor of Student Ministries

Dan has been serving students and their families for many years at RVC. Dan works closely with Roger Haberman and his own Mid-High staff to reach to Middle School students and help them become independently dependent on Christ. Dan and Jen have two young children, Jared and Haley. Contact Dan



Chuck Kostrna

Redwood Campus Pastor, Pastor of Children’s Ministries, & Life Groups

Chuck has passionately served at RVC for over 10 years. He oversees our children’s ministries and plays a crucial pastoring role in our Life Group and Equipping ministries, and also serves our fellowship as an Elder. Brian Lucas

Facilities Manager

Brian was born and raised here in Grants Pass and has been a part of the RVC family for almost 10 years. In that time he has served in many different capacities including youth ministry, leading worship, and Life Groups. Brian works with the facilities/maintenance team and helps assist with pastoral duties at our Murphy Campus. He has been married to his wife Ashley since 2008 and has been blessed with 2 beautiful daughters, Kiara and Abigail. Contact Brian



Michelle Rutherford

Finance Director

Michelle has been serving at River Valley since 2010. She received her degree from the University of Phoenix and has been in for-profit accounting for nearly 20 years. Michelle has a heart for finances done God’s way and enjoys facilitating Financial Peace University and Challenge Workshops. She and her husband, Richard, co-lead a Life Group. Michelle and Richard have been married since October 21, 1995, and are blessed with three adult “children”. Contact Michelle



Duane Stark

Pastor of Missions/Outreach

Duane has a passion to see God’s love carried out in tangible ways. He believes we are called to make disciples locally, nationally, and globally. Duane oversees our outreach ministries and loves to see God’s people following their own passions in an effort to bring people closer to a love relationship with the Creator.
